The plan for quarter 83/8 was almost completely realised in the Thirties, and it still exists. One can see that building was started on the West side of the quarter. Walking Eastwards, more and more ornaments appear along the windows and the eaves.

After 1935 the plans for the architecture of the sotsgorod were changed to higher buildings in a more eclectic style, positioned in closed building blocks, but SchmidtÕs overall scheme of the city was kept.

Sotsgorod Orsk is a very unhealthy place to live in. It is built too close to the refinery and the nickel factory. After staying there for even two days oneÕs bronchial tubes get irritated.
